Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jackson/Hinds Library System Closed Monday, August 30, 2021, Due to Severe Weather Threat

JACKSON, MS – Out of an abundance of caution regarding the predicted threat of Hurricane Ida as it moves through a large portion of Mississippi over the next few days, all library branches and offices of the Jackson/Hinds Library System will be closed on Monday, August 30, 2021.

Depending on the storm’s impact after August 30, JHLS may make additional announcements regarding closures for specific library branches or systemwide at https://jhlibrary.org/news and social media.

We urge the community to take immediate action to protect themselves if Hurricane Ida affects local utilities and other portions of our infrastructure. A handy guide for preparing a disaster kit can be found on the Mississippi State Department of Health’s website at HealthyMS.com/kit.

We also recommend keeping up with the latest weather reports through our local media outlets and the National Weather Service for Jackson, Mississippi at weather.gov/jan.

During our closure, if you need assistance with library services, please send emails to info@jhlibrary.org and we will respond when we are available. Thank you.
