How to Earn Digital Badges and a Certificate

  • Logging books read (can be printed, digital and audio. Picture books also accepted. You can also include a book review.
  • Participate in missions, special activities for additional points.
  • Points are also earned by playing the bingo game. Each cell is worth 5-15 points.
  • Complete Levels 1 through 4 by earning 200 points to get to the next level. Earn 1,000 points to receive a printable certificate.

Giveaways

Library branches will have grab-and-go bags with coloring sheets and activities, while supplies last. New options each week!

You can request a bag through curbside pickup. If you are picking up a children’s book that you placed on hold, curbside pickup will include a bag while supplies last.

For groups such as daycares, you may request one bag per class to duplicate.

Prizes

Since we are using curbside pickup for library book holds, we will use the same system for pickup of Summer Reading goodie bags and prizes at two of our branches.

Prize Pickup Days are Saturday, July 25 and Saturday, August 1 at these locations:
  • Jackson branches: Eudora Welty Library (300 North State Street, Jackson, MS 39201) – 601-968-5811
  • Hinds County branches: Quisenberry Library (605 East Northside Drive, Clinton, MS 39056) – 601-924-5684

Here’s how to pick up your goodie bags and prizes:
  1. Come to one of the designated locations and park in a curbside pickup location, or as close to one as possible if they are full.
  2. Call the number on the sign (same as the numbers above) and let them know you are picking up your goodie bag(s).
  3. A staff member will look participants up in READsquared and get your goodie bag(s) ready. If you earned level badges or a certificate badge, you will get prizes for those added to your goodie bag(s). Mission badges are for points only.
  4. A staff member will place the bag(s) on your vehicle for retrieval.

Also note:
  • If you pick up prizes on July 25 and earn additional badges from July 26-31, you may come back to get prizes for those badges on August 1. You will not receive an additional goodie bag.
  • If you are unable to redeem those prizes on the prize pickup days, please contact the nearest open library branch to you to make arrangements for pickup. We will make sure that you get your prizes!
  • Top Reader and random drawing prizes will be determined the first week of August and distributed after August 8. Stay tuned for updates.

Thanks for your participation in the program!
