JACKSON HINDS LIBRARY SYSTEM

PRESS RELEASE OCTOBER 14, 2022

Jackson –

Jackson Hinds Library System is pleased to learn that the former Charles Tisdale library building has been demolished.  “The former location of the Northside Library which was renamed to the Charles Tisdale library in 2009 has not been a legal library outlet of the Jacksons Hinds Library System since the building was remitted back to the City of Jackson in 2017.”

Also, following four months of daily closures due to failed HVAC units, the Eudora Welty Library will reopen for public service on Monday, October 17, 2022, subject to building temperature monitoring.

Floyd Council, Executive Director, stated, “Jackson Hinds Library System is thankful to the City of Jackson for taking leadership efforts to remove the Tisdale building that has been in disrepair for more than 15 years.”  No comments are available at this time regarding the future plans for repair or replacement of library facilities.  The official spokesperson for the Administrative Board of Trustees for the Jackson Hinds Library is Chairman Rickey Jones.
