Wear Orange, a community program aimed at ending gun violence took place at your Medgar Evers Library on Saturday, June 7th 2025. It was led off with a personal testimonial and words of inspiration by a survivor of multiple gunshots and advocate for the ending of gun violence. She was followed by others testifying as to the effects of gun violence in their lives.  Some expressing the trauma of losing loved ones and having that trauma exacerbated by neglect or maltreatment by those in authority.

The talks were followed by a walk to raise awareness of the problems of gun violence. The group walked from the Medgar Evers Library to the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Home National Monument and back. Upon their return food and refreshments were served as the attendees settled down for a panel discussion. As the people shared stories and information, the sense of community grew and so did the resolve to end gun violence.
