The Jackson/Hinds Library System celebrates the 114th birthday of the iconic and Pulitzer Prize-winning Mississippi writer Eudora Alice Welty. “We are excited about the future of a new Eudora Welty Central Library in downtown Jackson, Mississippi, as recently announced by the City of Jackson.”

The Administrative Board of Trustees is actively working with the City of Jackson and Hinds County to plan a bright future for the library system. Council said, “I am honored to serve as the Executive Director of the Jackson/Hinds Library System during this time in Mississippi history. Salute to our beloved patrons, brilliant library team, Administrative Board of Trustees, City of Jackson, Jackson City Council, Hinds County Board of Supervisors, and the State of Mississippi.”

About the Jackson Hinds Library System: We provide public library service to urban metropolitan Jackson and Hinds County, Mississippi, the state capital. We aim to provide quality service through our 14 locations, focusing on community, education, and digital life. We currently operate under our historic 1986 city/county agreement, but our history dates back to our original Jackson Carnegie Library’s founding in 1910.
