Progress on the setting up of the Fannie Lou Hamer Library in the Golden Key Community Center is moving forward once again.
A prolonged pause in library activities was necessary in order to allow the contractor to finish the flooring and ceiling tiles in the hallways adjacent to the library entrances. Staff could not access the space while the floor tiles were being laid or ceiling tiles were lifted up and placed in the hallway outside our doors.
Library staff will be back at the location this week to install shelving and and reshelve books. The public access computers will be cleaned and made ready for use as well. If all goes as planned and the construction contractor clears the building for use, we hope that Hamer Library will be ready to reopen in the next two to three weeks.
