Shelver - Raymond Library

Under the supervision of the Branch Manager, a shelver places books and other library materials in their rightful place. The shelving process includes: 

  • sorting the materials by call number on the carts prior to placing them on the shelves
  • checking each item in a particular section to ensure it is in call number order
  • straightening and leveling materials by pulling each item to the edge of the shelf in a straight line 

Additional duties may include answering the phone, assisting patrons with finding materials, and light clerical duties at the circulation desk, aiding with community outreach and promoting library programs. 

 

Youth Service Specialist - Quisenberry Library

 

Under the general supervision of the Branch Manager, a Youth Services Specialist is a self-motivated, problem solving, individual who is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating library services for children, teens, and their caregivers. With an emphasis in inclusive programming, digital literacy, community partnerships, and responsive collection development, responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: 

  • Development and execution of innovative programs for children (ages 0–12) and teens (ages 13–18), including storytimes, STEAM activities, book clubs, and teen advisory boards.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with schools, childcare centers, youth organizations, and cultural institutions.
  • Staying informed about emerging library trends, youth development research, and evolving community needs
  • Assisting in the selection, maintenance, and weeding of the youth collection to ensure diversity, relevance and alignment with community needs.
  • Fostering a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for all youth. 

A key aspect to success in this role is staying informed about emerging library trends, youth development research, and evolving community needs to ensure services remain relevant, innovative, and impactful.

 

 

Circulation Assistant - Quisenberry Library

Under the general supervision of the Branch Manager, a Circulation Assistant provides customer service to patrons and performs procedures related to the circulation of materials. This includes but is not limited to: 

  •  Charging and discharging library materials to patrons using the Library System's automated circulation system.  
  • Assisting patrons with using the computers, copier, and fax machine.  
  • Placing materials on hold.  
  • Helping patrons find the information they seek.  
  • Explaining and implementing library policies and procedures.  

Additional duties may include aiding with community outreach and promoting library programs.
