U.S. Newsstream

The U.S. Newsstream enables users to search current U.S. news content, regional newspapers as well as archives that stretch back into the 1980s. It delivers full-text news sources including newspapers, newswires, news journals, television and radio transcripts, blogs, podcasts, and digital-only websites. Includes preferred access to content from The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, CNN Newswires, the Huffington Post, and the Clarion Ledger.

 

ESBO LearningExpress Resume and Cover Letter Builder

Unfortunately, Jackson/Hinds Library System is no longer subscribed to Cypress Resume. However, EBSCOLearningExpress does have a resume and cover letter builder tool. If you don’t have an account, you must create one on LearningExpress using your email address, password, and library card; once you have made your account, select Centers.  Under the Centers menu button, you should see a sub-menu called Job and Career Accelerator. Then click on Build Resume and Job Letters to access the builder. Sign in or register on the link below.

Westlaw Patron Access

Westlaw Patron Access is an online legal research service designed especially for patron use in public libraries. The service is not available outside our library branches. This service is available at all 12 branches.

For help with searching Westlaw trained staff can assist you with your Westlaw searching.

Accelerated Reader (AR) Books

From understood.org: “Accelerated Reader is a computer-based program that schools may use to monitor reading practice and progress. It helps teachers guide kids to books that are on kids’ individual reading levels that are expressed in levels such as grade 1.3, 2.4, 6.1, etc. Kids take short quizzes after reading a book to check if they’ve understood it.”

You can use the free AR Bookfinder by Renaissance to search for AR books by title, author, ISBN, etc.
