On Monday, April 19th, the R.G. Bolden/Anna-Bell Moore will have a program presented by Mr. Johnny Hubbard, the Interim Coordinator of Jazz Studies for Jackson State University. Mr. Hubbard will present an exciting program identifying the historical, cultural and social significance of jazz music. The video is a condensed presentation of the history and evolution of jazz. Various jazz art forms such as the New Orleans Jazz, Chicago Jazz, New York Jazz and Kansas City Jazz will be discussed as well as the different eras of jazz. With roots in slavery and Jim Crow era society, jazz confronts and deals with human issues. For more information, please contact the R.G. Bolden/Anna-Bell Moore Library at 601-922-6076.
