There's a cool place where you can buy gently-used books for 50 cents each, and even kids' books cost one dollar for five! Guess where? The Book Sale at the Eudora Welty Library! Instruction is offered the first half hour for beginners followed by an hour of play for attendees of all levels at the Medgar Evers Library. Chess boards are provided and library materials are available for further learning. This is a recurring event and takes place on Saturdays at 2:00 PM. The program by the Institute of Southern Jewish Life is a six-week literacy program designed for families with children ages 6-10 to learn, play, read and grow together. Includes fun literacy activities, storytelling, writing workshops, parent workshops and lunch. Parents will also receive information and resources from local agencies.

NOTE: The weekly Movie Matinee will be held on Thursdays at 3:30 PM while the program is in session.

The Medgar Evers Library will host a Black History Month program on February 5th at 3:30 PM. Mr. John Spann of the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum will speak on Medgar Evers' life, his legacy and the impact he had on the civil rights movement. Please join us!

Bolden Moore Library | February 07, 2020

On Friday, February 7th at 10:30 AM, the Bolden Moore Library will present a program with the historic Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. A representative with the band will arrive at the library to discuss the history, culture, language and legacy of the Mississippi Band of Choctaws. The Choctaw representative will also bring some props and instruments to pass around. All age groups are encouraged to attend.
